Tutorial: Handling Errors in Asset Rotation
Errors in asset rotations can occur for various reasons, such as issues with the assets themselves (e.g., a YouTube link is no longer live), problems with the Google Ads API, or assets not meeting Google Ads specifications. This tutorial explains how to identify and address these errors, and retry updates within the active schedule window.
Key Note: Errors can only be retried while the version is still within its active schedule.
Live + Completed with Errors: Some assets were successfully updated, but others failed.
Errored: The version failed to update any assets.
Step 1: Navigate to the Failed Version
Go to the All Versions Page and select the Asset Group containing the failed version.
Click on the failed version to open it.
Identify Problem Areas:
Assets that failed will be highlighted in red.
Error messages will provide details about why the asset or rotation failed (e.g., “The resource has been disapproved since the policy summary includes prohibited content”).
Step 2: Fix the Issue (for partial errors)
Review the highlighted assets and the accompanying error messages.
Address the problem, such as:
Updating text to meet Google Ads policies.
Uploading images that meet size and format requirements.
Providing a valid YouTube link if the original is no longer live.
Removing assets that errored.
Step 3: Retry the Update
Once the issue is resolved, click Save and Run Now to retry the rotation within the schedule window.
This will immediately push the updated assets to Google Ads and attempt the rotation again.
Step 4: Verify the Update
Check the Execution Log or the All Versions page after a few minutes to confirm that the rotation was successful.
Ensure all assets have been applied as expected without errors.
