How to create a new Report using Custom SQL?

There are currently two ways to create a custom SQL report.

  1. From the Home Page, click on the New Data Report button, and in the Source dropdown, select the Custom SQL option. Fill out the other required options for the report and after clicking the Create Report button you will be taken to the SQL query input page.

  2. From the Report Page, click on the New Data Report button, and in the Source dropdown, select the Custom SQL option. Fill out the other required options for the report and after clicking the Create Report button you will be taken to the SQL query input page.

How can I recreate a custom SQL Report from the old Explorer?

To recreate a previously created custom SQL report from the old Explorer, follow the Explorer (Legacy) button in the top nav under Reporting and navigate to the report you want to use. Copy and paste the the SQL code from the old view and create a new report following the directions in the question above.

You must recreate the report using a new name, or you will receive an error message. If you want need to use the same name, we will be rolling out migration for such reports in the near future.

How do I explore data from a given datasource?

For the initial release, our focus is on supporting Alli Data Library. We have plans in the very near future to migrate all Alli Data datasources.

Can I publish an Explorer View to Dashboards?

Not in the initial release of the Explorer application. More to come in this area.

How do I create an alert from an Explorer Report?

This process currently stays the same once you’ve filtered your datasource as needed and saved and published your report. Once published, you can use the new report name during the Alli custom alert setup process.

How do I add a calculated Metric, like CTR or CVR?

Currently, all metrics must exist within the dataset to be explored and they are not available to create in the explorer view.

Can I merge two datasources in one data explorer view if they have the same columns?

Currently, this functionality is not supported by Alli Data Explorer.
