How-to set up a new Alli SFTP

Overview

This document walks through how to create a new SFTP for your client that can then be used to receive or send data securely.

Instructions

  1. Go to https://app.alliplatform.com/to/cloud-storage/sftp

  2. Log in

  3. Switch to the correct client in the top left

  4. Click “Add SFTP User” in the top right

  5. Choose username

  6. Add a public key (optional, if needed)

  7. Click save

  8. A password will pop up. Save this password and username somewhere safe and secure for retrieval - You will not be able to retrieve this password again!

If you plan to deliver files to the SFTP using an Alli Marketplace app such as Data Delivery - Redshift SQL to SFTP or Data Delivery - BigQuery SQL to SFTP, ensure the password does not have a “$” in it because this will cause the SQL to SFTP app to fail. You can paste the password in a text editor to check it, then generate a new one if it contains a “$”.
