Gen Dashboards Roles and Permissions Overview: Users, Clients, Power Users, and Admins

This page explains the different roles, what each role can do, and how access works across dashboards and charts.

👤 User

A user automatically becomes the owner/creator of any dashboard they create.

Permissions

✅ Create dashboards and charts
✅ Edit dashboards and charts you own ~ Create, edit, delete, and duplicate

✅ Rearrange charts within your own dashboards
✅ Delete dashboards you own (and all charts inside them)
✅ Set dashboards as Personal or Shared

Limitations

❌ Edit or delete dashboards/charts owned by other users

👀 Client

Clients or stakeholders who only need to view dashboards. This permission is client-based.

Permissions

✅ View dashboards shared with them
✅ Access dashboards via the Pinned section

Limitations

❌ Create dashboards or charts
❌ Edit dashboards or charts
❌ Duplicate dashboards or charts

🔒 Client access is strictly read-only, even if they navigate to the main dashboards page.

⚡ Power User

Power User permissions apply across the generative dashboard application and for all clients the user has access to.

Permissions

✅ All Creator permissions across all dashboards/charts and all clients that they have access to.

Limitations

❌ Cannot delete dashboards they do not own

🛠 Admin

Admin permissions apply across the generative dashboard application and for all clients the user has access to.

✅ Full Creator permissions across all dashboards/charts (including deletion) and all clients that they have access to.
