How To: Duplicate a Dashboard and create a Saved View
This feature is equivalent to a Saved View in Tableau; users can duplicate a dashboard, reset filters, rename the Dashboard to reflect the change, and voila, you have a new saved view available
Purpose
Duplicating allows you to quickly copy an existing dashboard and make edits without starting from scratch. This is useful when you want the same structure but with different naming, metrics, or filters.
Steps
Open the Dashboard You Want to Copy
Navigate to the dashboard you want to duplicate.
Open the Dashboard Menu
In the top-right (next to Save), click the three dots (⋮) menu.
Duplicate
Click Duplicate.
A copy of the dashboard will be created automatically with the name:
“Copy of {Dashboard Name}”.
Check and change Filters if needed
Click on Filters right beside the date picker
In the Filters panel, set the required filters for the Duplicate of the original, for example, changing the channel from Paid Search to Paid Social
Rename the Dashboard
Click the title of the duplicated dashboard.
Enter your preferred name (e.g., Social Performance Dashboard).
Save the Dashboard
After renaming, click Save in the top-right to finalize.
Notes & Best Practices
Use duplication when you want to preserve the layout and structure of a dashboard.
Renaming right after duplication helps prevent confusion with the original.
Do not forget to rename the visuals in the dashboard as well to align with the new filters
To do this quickly
Navigate to the three dot menu on top of any visualization and click on edit
Click on Code right beside Visual to switch to the code view
Cmd + F and search for “Subtitle”; this will show you what the current title is
Edit the title to reflect the new filters
Switch to Visual to QA if the change took place
Hit Save and your visual is ready
You can duplicate as many times as needed to create different versions.
